Players pitch to intimidating batters in a simulated game environment. Strikeout and brush back the batters...but make sure they don't take you deep! A built in speed gun tells the players how fast they are pitching.

Game Software Features

True Pitching Simulation:
The player/user is the pitcher in a true pitching simulation. That is, they pitch against "live", computer-generated hitters with a live catcher and umpire. The object of the session is to strike-out as many hitters as possible during the session. A strikeout is the only type of "out" that the pitcher can achieve
during the session (i.e. there are no ground-outs or fly-outs).

Real size and properly located strike zone:
The projected image size of the strike zone and its location on the screen are
real. That is, it is "knees to letters" in height and has the proper plate width.

Realistic, varied hitter, catcher and umpire reactions:
Using a unique combination of video and animation processes, the hitter reacts with unique movements just as a real hitter would. The hitter can hit the pitch, take it, swing and miss, or move out of the way on brush-back. As well, the catcher can offer the pitcher advice, complain to the umpire, etc. The umpire
will call balls and strikes, but also warn and potentially throw the pitcher out
of the game on brush-backs and bean balls.

Realistic batter behaviour:
Based on the skill level of the player/user (pitcher) and the batter selected, the hitter will hit the player/user's pitches accordingly (e.g. missing high-velocity pitches, hitting pitches over the middle of the plate, etc).

Data Reporting and Analysis:
During the player/user session, the system's scoreboard displays the
following data:

  • Velocity of each pitch
  • The number of strikeouts (outs)
  • The count on the current batter (balls, strikes)
  • The score (runs scored against)
  • The number of men on base

After the session, a report summary is displayed that includes:

  • The number of pitches thrown
  • The number of pitches that were strikes
  • Percentage of strikes thrown
  • The number of strikeouts during the session
  • The number of hits during the session
  • The number of walks during the session
  • The number of runs during the session
